Welcome to part 2 of Androidfact.com’s Rumor roundup. We will be speculating the HTC One M9 this time.
With the release of 2014’s beastly HTC One M8, the phone deserved a league of its own, sporting a true premium feel, with a curved aluminum backing, and stunning 5 Inch, Super LCD-3, FHD (1920X1080) Resolution. There have been multiple rumors regarding what the new handset will be named, speculations tell HTC will stick with the sequel naming, giving the new device the name: HTC One M9.
Other sources tell us that HTC has code named the new device “Hima”, which could result in a combination of the two. The device is expected to make an appearance at the 2015 MWC show in a few weeks, so stay tuned to Androidfact.com for all your MWC coverage.
On HTC’s website, its source code apparently shows that HTC will be ditching the naming of the M9 to include Hima, instead opting for another route, and dubbing something relevant to the M9, “One Life.”
From the image leaks we have seen so far, provided to us by reliable sources, it looks like the M9 or the Hima will sport a slightly larger display, but will resemble to look and feel of the previous successor, the HTC One M8. One complaint many customers had with the M8 was that the speaker grill bar at the top and bottom were obsolete and ugly, so we could be seeing HTC come out with a newer design and look to the new smartphone.
THE SPEC SHEET AND KEY SPECIFICATIONS
The HTC One M8 packed a powerful Snapdragon 801 Chipset Which featured a Quad-Core 2.3GHz, Krait 400, a standard in 2014 with all high end smartphones packing a Snapdragon Chip. We should be seeing the newly announced Snapdragon 810 Processor being run in the M9. The Snapdragon 810 includes:
- · Octa-Core (8 Processing Cores)
- · 64-Bit Architecture
- · 2.0 GHz Quad-Core Cortex-57, and a Quad-Core A-53 Clocked at 1.5 GHz
- · 3/4GB of LPDDR4 Superspeed RAM
- · Beastly Adreno 430 GPU
The HTC One M9 will come preinstalled with Android Lollipop 5.0.2 featuring HTC’s Sense 7.0 interface. The HTC One M8 packed a 2600 mAh Li-Po battery and the leaked M9 battery stands at 2840 mAh, a 240 mAh increase from the M8. Upleaks show that the M9 will be released with 3 variants, including a Developer Edition. CAT-6 LTE Connection support is also said to be supported in the M9, reaching download speeds of up to 300 mbps. Just like the M8, the M9 will also come in 32GB and 64GB variants. The new handset will also include an SD card slot. Maybe we will see RAM differentiation with respect to the storage capacity. The new device may see an upgrade from last year’s device which had a 1080p resolution. Many Flagships are already being released with QHD (Quad HD 2560X1440), like the LG G3, and the Galaxy Note 4, something we may see being more common in 2015.
CAMERA AND SOUND
Multiple leaks show that the M9, unlike last year’s M8, will be a single shooter, with a Front facing Camera that packs 20.7 Megapixels, with f/2.0 aperture, a rear 4MP Camera, and Dual-LED Flash, which resembles Sony’s Xperia Line up, capable of recording 4K videos in UHD (Very standard and common in high end cameras). The camera will also feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), but there may be changes to the feature.
The speaker grills in the M9 will most likely see a change, and be oriented in another position which is unclear yet, seeing a difference in the M8. Very standard including a 3.5mm sound jack, vibration and stereo speakers, although we are not clear on which positioning the new speaker grills could be seen in.
And that concludes part 2 of Androidfact.com’s 2015 Rumor Roundup, featuring the HTC ONE M9 (Hima). Stay tuned for more juicy content in the upcoming weeks.
