As consumers wait for the next wave of chipsets powering our smartphones and handhelds, it seems CES 2016 is the first event where companies will announce their new devices including these chipsets. The Snapdragon 820 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated SoC this year, and the Snapdragon 820 which has been acknowledged for half a year now has finally come to life. The first ever device to be announced to carry Qualcomm’s next gen Snapdragon 820 Chipset is China’s media giant, LeTV, with their MAX Pro. LeTV has just announced and demoed the device at CES 2016
This device features all the highest end hardware around, not skimping on anything. There are tons of features that make this device desirable, from the 6.33 inch Quad HD display to the rear mounted fingerprint sensor atop an all-aluminum chassis, don’t expect this baby to go cheap anytime soon.
Let’s first get specifications out of the way. As mentioned before, the LeTV MAX Pro comes armed with a true phablet sized 6.33 inch Quad-HD IPS display, with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, and an insanely sharp pixel density for a phablet.
Under the hood we find the alluring Quad-Core Snapdragon 820 CPU loaded with 4 of Qualcomm’s Kryo cores, along with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM accompanied by 64GB of internal storage. As for optics, there’s a 21 Megapixel primary camera flanked by a Dual-LED flash.
Other miscellaneous features include the aforementioned rear mounted Qualcomm branded “SenseID” Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, the next-gen standard USB Type-C connector at the bottom, as well as an all-around premium build consisting of aluminum and glass.
Powering this device is Google’s latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, layered over with LeTV’s custom user interface which aims to deliver a minimalistic “iOS/Stock Android” experience.
As for pricing and availability, the LeTV Max pro was rumored to be priced at $535 or RMB 3,500 in China. Availability date is current unannounced, but will most likely be open to the public within the next month.
