How to reboot the Galaxy S4

This is how to reboot the Samsung Galaxy s4

Every once in awhile you may feel that your cellphone is running a bit slower than it used to. Or worse your phone may have come so unresponsive that it simply won’t work.

The first thing you should try if this happens is to reboot your phone. The first and easiest way of doing this is by pressing a few buttons. And the second way is to simply remove the battery for a few seconds. Let me tell you how.

If you are looking for a way to reset your phone to factory settings check out our how to reset your Galaxy s4 article.

How to reboot the Galaxy s4

  1. Press and hold the power button until a menu pops up.
  2. From there press where it says Restart.
  3. Another popup will appear where have to confirm your choice.
  4. If this was useful why not

Another way to achieve the same result is to simply turn your phone off from the same menu, and then turn it back on again.

If for some reason your phone is stuck so bad, buttons can’t be pressed you can hold the power button pressed for 10 seconds and the phone will turn off. A forth way of achieving the same result is to pick out the battery for a second before reinserting it.

  1. Hello,
My galaxy s4 has been a little slow lately. The keypads are sticking and making any type of texting rediculous. The power button was also not putting the phone to sleep until today that is. I went to reset my phone and now it wont turn back on. I have taken the battery out and put it back in. The S4 logo apears so I know the phones not dead. Anyway to get around a dead power button and maybe any advice on what could be causing the phone to be so lagged? Ive searched the internet with no real answers found. Thank you!!!

  2. My phone won’t let me power it down. I try to hold down the power button and nothing happens. How can I restart this phone? Is there another way around this? It is a galaxy S4.

    • If your power button does not work you can easily pull out the battery for a few seconds to power it down. However it the button does not work you may have a problem when trying to restart it…

  5. Was on Facebook then logged out. Put my phone away when I went to make a call couple hours later my phone was off. I have tried to charge it which it already had 1/2 battery. I have tried taking the battery out. And l saving it on the charger. It is showing no signs of life. Help!!!

    • Sound like you are in quite the pickle. I would suggest that you attempt a factory reset of your phone. Check out this article :
Since your phone is not responding at all you are going to have to try the second way of doing it described in the link.
Hope you get your phone up and running again.

  7. my phone keeps on hanging and won’t open applications. I can still send messages sometimes but after a while it will hang again. if i open some apps, it will report that the MTP is not responding and eventually will hang again. Battery drains very quick, like just an hour or so. Ive i had it check to the samsung store but said its not the battery. Problem is i have to give them the unit for a week for them to check on the unit. I have some patients pictures and videos on the phone and I’m worried that it may be opened and be shown on the net. I have been trying to restart and reformat the phone but to no avail. Is there a way i can reformat my phone before i can have it appeared. thanks
