How to screenshot on Android 4.1 Jelly BeanAmong the things we now take for granted in our Android Os phones is the ability to take screenshots. It was not always like this though. In the beginning of the history of Android it was not unusual that you would have to root and install software to get this job done. Thankfully this is not the case any longer. If you are the lucky owner of a device running Jelly Bean you are going to appreciate the ability to take screen dumps on your phone or tablet. If you want to share with someone what is going on on your screen this is the easiest way to do this.
How
- Press the volume down and the power button at the same time.
- Hold them in for about a second or so.
- Key elements here is that you press and hold the two buttons at the same time.
- The picture illustrates the process on a particular device, remember that the placement of the power and volume buttons may be located elsewhere on your phone or tablet running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
If you found this useful why not
If your device is not running Jelly Bean jet you could try using the stock ice cream sandwich screenshot tutorial
Or you could try to update your device to the latest version of Android Os
If you have now been able to successfully take a screen dump on your device you will hear a sound and see a flash that confirms that a screenshot has been saved to your gallery. If you want to take a look at the screenshot right away you can pull down the notification area and press the thumbnail of the picture to take you directly to the gallery.

On samsung galaxy S2 plus with android 4.1.2 it works by holding for 1 second the home and power buttons at the same time
hi…i am using s2 amd i am not able to take screenshot while pressing power+home button.. it will show that cant take screnshot..plz help me out..urgent
You shoulf try pressing AND HOLDING volume down AND home button at the same time. Hope this helps
on galaxy s2 with jelly bean 4.1 you have to press home key and power key simultaneously to get screeshot,
I guess I got the solution for Samsung Galaxy S2 + Jelly Bean
The shortcut is: Power Button + Home Button
But, to avoid getting the task manager when long pressing on the home button as you try to get a screen capture, You’ll need to EMPTY task manager first. Once done, the above combination will work like a charm!
Cheers
Android 4.1.2 = Power + Vol Down
How to on galaxy s (vibrant t959) running 4.1? Thanks
How to take a screen shot on Galaxy Ace 2 running android 4.1.2 jellybean?
on galaxy s2 which is flashed to jelly bean 4.1.2 press and hold home key then holding that press and hold the power key after 1/2 seconds you will hear screen shot sound. works for sure.
In Jelly Bean 4.1, only Power and Home-button press is necessary. Volume down only adds the notification of sound in the screenshot
Useless… Fcks
Does not work on my Samsung Galaxy S III using 4.1.1 and did not work by pressing volume down and home button either.
You have to press them at the same time and hold for about 2 seconds for the s3
Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean 4.1.2: Power button+Home button at same time.
how to do screen capture on Samsung Galaxy Note II with Android 4.1.1?
None of the ways recommended for other devices work on our phone.
I found three ways of doing it in this tutorial right here : http://droidlessons.com/how-to-take-a-screenshot-on-the-samsung-galaxy-note-2-free-no-app-required/
mine does not work. it either locks phone or display options of restarting etc… i have the galaxy s2 w/jellybean.
For the s2 you need to press and hold volume down and home button
This does not work on mine. Even holding down for a while, just shiws task manager then shuts off phone
I went looking for the answer and yours ranks high. It works! Thanks for the assist.
Thanks…thanks….thanks….!!!!!
I am so glad you liked it. This is the reason why I write these posts
the key combinations don’t work on my Samsung galaxy note 7
If it is similar to the Nexus 4, just hold power button and you’ll see the option under “Shutdown/Reboot”.
working dude thanks
Wow,thanks for the tip. Still I wonder why 4.1.1 replaced screenshot icon with complicated key combination, which may Restart the device if not used correctly.
For those who have Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean:
Here the combination is: Power + Home button

Thank you sooo much!!!
Success! Thanks a lot.
Thank you
So it appears they did away with the “hand scanner” method of taking a screenshot during the upgrade to 4.1.1 – or is it just my particular ROM that didn’t incorporate this? I recently flashed the CM10 nightly on my Galaxy Note and have been overwhelmed to find out every feature works flawlessly so far. This was the 1st thing I even came across that I wasn’t sure if it were left out by JellyBean or CM. Any insight would be appreciated!
I had CM10 before on my SGS2. Now its Stock
In CM10 i was able to bring a screenshot button into the
turn-off screen (Power 1sec). I had to turn this option on
in the phone preferences.
Sorry for my english. I´m from Germany
