How to screenshot on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

How to screenshot on Android 4.1 Jelly BeanAmong the things we now take for granted in our Android Os phones is the ability to take screenshots. It was not always like this though. In the beginning of the history of Android it was not unusual that you would have to root and install software to get this job done. Thankfully this is not the case any longer. If you are the lucky owner of a device running Jelly Bean you are going to appreciate the ability to take screen dumps on your phone or tablet. If you want to share with someone what is going on on your screen this is the easiest way to do this.

How

  1. Press the volume down and the power button at the same time.

  2. Hold them in for about a second or so.
  3. Key elements here is that you press and hold the two buttons at the same time.
  4. The picture illustrates the process on a particular device, remember that the placement of the power and volume buttons may be located elsewhere on your phone or tablet running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
If you found this useful why not

If your device is not running Jelly Bean jet you could try using the stock ice cream sandwich screenshot tutorial
If you have now been able to successfully take a screen dump on your device you will hear a sound and see a flash that confirms that a screenshot has been saved to your gallery. If you want to take a look at the screenshot right away you can pull down the notification area and press the thumbnail of the picture to take you directly to the gallery.

I was finally able to get mine to work. You still use the power button and the home button. You have push both really hard and hold it for a few seconds. The edges of the screen flash and at the top it will say Saving Screenshot… I hope you’re able to use this. Thank you Yahoo Answers!

  22. I have a samsung galaxy 2 with tmobile, recently flashed to Jelly Bean 4.1.2. I am trying to snapshoot following the combination of keys mentioned here, but no success. I tried the two-key combo: home+power, I either get the task manager or my phone shutdown. I also tried the three-key combo:volume down+home+power, same result, or I just mute my phone. Any help? I kept pressing for short and long period of time, still no luck :(

    • Used to be able using power+vol down on ICS. Same here after Samsung asked me upgrading to Jelly Bean today on Samsung galaxy 2 :(

      Help pls!

      • I’ve been facing the same problem since I’ve upgraded my phone please help :(

        • Yeaah me too it doesn’t work :(

        • On your (as well as my) Galaxy S2, you must hold down the Power button and Home button. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT HOLDING IT DOWN FOR TOO LONG. Just hold it, and you will hear the clicking sound along with seeing a notification in the status bar. This will let you know that you were wonderfully successful.

And Anna, that’s weird… I have Galaxy S2 phone for 2 years now and I’ve never been able to take screenshots with your/the website’s combination (Power+Volume Down).

Hope this helps! DISCLAIMER: What works for me may not work for you.

    • Bro its easy just press the powe plus home button for like 3 secondd and you’ll succeed :D

    • I ‘h SAMSUNG I8262, running 4.1.2 jellybean. I tried the methods mentioned above but it doesn’t work here too.

  23. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0

    Power Button + Volume Down… Solve…!!!
    :-)

  24. For some reason, I had a brain fart this morning and thought screenshots were done by holding volume up + 1 power and then wondered why my volume was increasing. I could swear that that is how I’ve been doing screenshots all this time, but now it works by holding power + volume down.

    Weird.

  25. For those who haven’t been able to take a screenshot on Galaxy S2 (upgraded OS to Jelly Bean) by using either Vol Down + Power button or Home + Power button, what worked for me is using a 3-key combo –> Vol Down + Home + Power. You have to barely wait a sec before the screenshot is captured!

  26. Myster Williams says:

OK OK OK I GOT IT!!! IT FINALLY WORKED!!!
For all my Samsung S2 user (Epic 4G Touch) if your device is running ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) Android OS 4.0 use the VOLUME DOWN & POWER BUTTON.

If you’ve recently updated to (Jelly Bean) Android OS 4.1.2 then you are going to use the HOME + POWER BUTTON. You MUST PRESS & HOLD AT THE SAME TIME (2 secs) or the device will power cycle. You’ll know it done cause you’ll hear the camera flash sound and the screen edges will flash white.

Hope this is helpful for those still in limbo

  27. On samsung galaxy S2 plus with android 4.1.2 it works by holding for 1 second the home and power buttons at the same time

  28. hi…i am using s2 amd i am not able to take screenshot while pressing power+home button.. it will show that cant take screnshot..plz help me out..urgent

  29. saleem puthiya purayil says:

on galaxy s2 with jelly bean 4.1 you have to press home key and power key simultaneously to get screeshot,

  30. I guess I got the solution for Samsung Galaxy S2 + Jelly Bean

The shortcut is: Power Button + Home Button

But, to avoid getting the task manager when long pressing on the home button as you try to get a screen capture, You’ll need to EMPTY task manager first. Once done, the above combination will work like a charm!

    Cheers

  31. Android 4.1.2 = Power + Vol Down

  32. How to on galaxy s (vibrant t959) running 4.1? Thanks

  33. How to take a screen shot on Galaxy Ace 2 running android 4.1.2 jellybean?

    • ddoong ddoong says:

press home button and power button at the same time and hold on for seconds till the notification about your screenshot has been saved

  34. on galaxy s2 which is flashed to jelly bean 4.1.2 press and hold home key then holding that press and hold the power key after 1/2 seconds you will hear screen shot sound. works for sure.

  35. In Jelly Bean 4.1, only Power and Home-button press is necessary. Volume down only adds the notification of sound in the screenshot :)

  36. Useless… Fcks

  37. Does not work on my Samsung Galaxy S III using 4.1.1 and did not work by pressing volume down and home button either.

  38. how to do screen capture on Samsung Galaxy Note II with Android 4.1.1?

None of the ways recommended for other devices work on our phone.

  39. mine does not work. it either locks phone or display options of restarting etc… i have the galaxy s2 w/jellybean.

    • For the s2 you need to press and hold volume down and home button

      • This does not work on mine. Even holding down for a while, just shiws task manager then shuts off phone

        • Doesn’t work for me either.

        • I have S2/Jellybean and after a year, I was finally able to make it work. This is what I did:

          1. press & hold home button, then clear all recent apps
          2. press & hold AT THE SAME TIME power button AND home button

          Hope it works for you all as well (-;

  40. I went looking for the answer and yours ranks high. It works! Thanks for the assist.

  41. Thanks…thanks….thanks….!!!!!

  42. the key combinations don’t work on my Samsung galaxy note 7

  43. working dude thanks

  44. Wow,thanks for the tip. Still I wonder why 4.1.1 replaced screenshot icon with complicated key combination, which may Restart the device if not used correctly.

  45. For those who have Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean:
Here the combination is: Power + Home button

  46. So it appears they did away with the “hand scanner” method of taking a screenshot during the upgrade to 4.1.1 – or is it just my particular ROM that didn’t incorporate this? I recently flashed the CM10 nightly on my Galaxy Note and have been overwhelmed to find out every feature works flawlessly so far. This was the 1st thing I even came across that I wasn’t sure if it were left out by JellyBean or CM. Any insight would be appreciated!

    • I had CM10 before on my SGS2. Now its Stock ;-)
In CM10 i was able to bring a screenshot button into the
turn-off screen (Power 1sec). I had to turn this option on
      in the phone preferences.

Sorry for my english. I´m from Germany
