Breaking news! Samsung mobile Arabia has just confirmed through their facebook page that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will indeed get the highly anticipated Android 4.4 Kit Kat update.

For quite some time now we have been speculating if the soon to be, two year old flagship smartphone from Samsung will get the the update to the latest Android version. Today we got the confirmation we have been waiting for.

When Ashif Poochengal asked if the Samsung galaxy S3 GT-I9300 was going to get android 4.4 kitkat in UAE or not, Samsung mobile Arabia responded that the KitKat update will be available by end of this month.

Even though the rumors around this update has been plentiful this is the first official word that has come out of Samsung. As you can see from the picture above this talks of the international GT-I9300, but this is most likely a good sign that Samsung will update all the S3 versions.

To the best of my knowledge Samsung has never before updated the international version while leaving others out in the cold. Do keep in mind though that these updates are rolled out in increments, meaning that not everyone will get the update at the same time. How soon you can get your official Kit Kat depends on several factors. Country of origin and which carrier you are on is something that can influence this.

To make sure you get it as soon as possible you should check if your S3 is indeed running the latest available version. To do this check out this tutorial I made : How to update the Galaxy S3.
