Yu Yutopia launched with Snapdragon 810, 4GB RAM and Quad HD display

Yu, an Indian smartphone manufacturer has just previewed their latest creation, the Yu Yutopia. This device is a direct competitor with the Oneplus 2 in terms of specification similarity, as the Yutopia packs the controversial 8-core, 64-bit Snapdragon 810, along with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM to match the OP2, instead arriving in a smaller package consisting of a 5.2 inch Quad HD display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and an incredibly sharp pixel density of 565 PPI.

The pricing is the selling point here, as this device is only exclusive to Amazon India right now, with the pricing being about INR 25,000 which translates to around $375.00 US, so it’s definitely a budget powerhouse to be considered.

The full specification sheet will be listed below.

  • 5.2 Inch Quad HD Display (2560 x 1440 resolution), 565 PPI
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection
  • 64-bit Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 SoC (Quad-Core Cortex A57 @ 2.0GHz + Quad-Core Cortex A53 @ 1.5GHz)
  • Adreno 430 GPU
  • 32GB Internal storage (MicroSD support up to 128GB)
  • 21MP Primary camera (Sony ExmoRS IMX230 Lens)
  • 8MP Front facing selfie shooter
  • 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0
  • Android 5.1.1 Lollipop (running Cyanogenmod 12, upgradable to CM13 Marshmallow)

As you can see for yourself, the specification sheet associated with the Yu Yutopia is definitely something to glance at, and on paper, the price to performance ratio is outstanding, but the other miscellaneous features will make up the cherry on top.

With the Snapdragon 810, Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology will be supported, which means drastically increased charging times. On the rear, just below the “Lumia” styled camera sensor is a fingerprint sensor, and as mentioned in the specification sheet, this device will be receiving an OTA update to Cyanogenmod 13, which is based off of Android Marshmallow, which also means there will be native fingerprint sensor support (as stated at Google I/0 2015 earlier this year.)

The design of the handset is also similar to Sony’s Xperia device line-up, with a camera sensor gaining inspiration from Microsoft’s Lumia design. The Yu Yutopia also measures in at 7.2 millimeters thick and weighing in at 159 grams, so it’s not only a high end budget device, design wise, it’s also very sleek and minimalistic.
