Lenovo’s Premium Imager: the Vibe Shot

As MWC 2015 approaches in the upcoming weeks, it seems like there are more and more last minute competitors announcing their plans to release their “new” flagship handheld device. We have seen this with BenQ’s F52, and now Lenovo’s “Vibe Shot”. The back face of this device slightly resembles that some of Sony’s Cybershot camera line-up, with the brushed aluminum design and dedicated camera snapshot button. In this article, we will be walking you through each and every aspect of what we know about the Vibe Shot so far, before Lenovo previews their new device at the Mobile World Congress Show.

Now, you should know that, while there are many new devices being announced at MWC, Lenovo will not be a stranger to announcing only 1 device. Leaks show that Lenovo is planning to reveal not 1, but 3 new flagships, those of which do include the Vibe Shot that we will be covering today. The other 2 are named the Vibe X3, the Vibe P1, and its variant, the Vibe P1 Pro. Coverage on those devices at a later time, But now, let’s move on to the Vibe Shot.

The Main Attraction

Now, while this sexy looking handset packs top of the line specs, let’s not forget the main reason why we are covering this device. This beastly device packs a 16 Megapixel primary shooter, featuring OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), Triple Tone Flash, a dedicated snapshot button, and a BSI sensor. Leaks reportedly showed the device sporting 3 different colors, White, Black, and Red. Its premium looking and feeling, brushed aluminum back, with a metal band bumper really captures its design effort and dedication to being part camera, part smartphone.

The design of the phone does resemble a little bit, to the iPhone 5 and 5s, with the thin, slim figure, brushed aluminum design, and of course, the bottom of the device, with the 2-Sided speaker Grill and Micro-USB jack sitting in between the speaker holes.

The device appears to have a 5-Inch, FHD (1920×1080) resolution display, a 64 Bit, Snapdragon 615 Processor (Slightly lower end than the 810 most 2015 devices will be armed with, but nonetheless still a powerful chipset), and other top of the line specs we will be expecting other devices to wield.

The device, along with many other android handsets, will come out of the box, with Android 5.0 Lollipop, hopefully 5.1 if we see more fixes coming along. Lenovo may or may not include their own Android interface/skin, as seen by the likes of LG, and Samsung.

We don’t have an exact date of when Lenovo will be presenting their Vibe Shot at MWC, but we can expect it to be somewhere during the conference. Rumored release date is somewhere in Quarter 2 of the 2015 year.

Now, onto the device’s internal hardware specifications. (SPECIFICATIONS COURTESY OF GSMARENA)
