Nexus 5 screenshot

This is how you do a screenshot on the Google Nexus 5.

The Nexus 5 is the fifth Nexus cell phone released by Google. This phone is packed with features that you would naturally expect from a phone released by the maker of the Android Os.

Capturing what happens on your phones screen is a feature that has been embedded in Android for ages, and the Nexus 5 is happily no exception. Let me show you how to do a screenshot on the Nexus 5.

How to screenshot Nexus 5

Press and hold Volume down and power button

How to screenshot on the Google Nexus 5.

  1.  Press and hold the power and the Volume down button at the same time.
  2. The phone will use about a second to register the combination. Do not release before the confirmation pops up.
  3. Let me repeat some key words here : Press and hold and the words at the same time.

Found something useful, why not

  1. you showed my how to do a screenshot with my Nexus 5. I’m truly grateful but how do i print or email those screen shots because it does not give me the option.

  2. Where do the screen shots go after

    • They end up in your gallery. the same place an image is stored when you use the phones camera to capture images. Look for a new folder named screenshots in your gallery app.

  3. Initially i thought may be Nexus 5 doesnt have it. Two months later i installed a screen grab application and told a friend. He almost died laughing. He asked me how does this new application help you take a screenshot of your phone screen – i told him we need to press Power + volume down simulatneously and we have a screen grab. He forced me to delete the application and then try same command – it worked!!!! :D hehehehehe

  4. Justin watson says:

    It won’t work on mine

  5. Amol Suryawanshi says:

Wowwwww. Its works. Thanks a lot.

  6. It works, you just have to start holding both buttons at the exact same time, I mean start holding them at the exact same time literally! I think that’s the point that is failed to be stressed.

  7. worked.. many thanks

  8. wow it worked

  9. thx…. it worked!!! i took ages and i never found it!!!!! :D

  10. Yes. It works. It would be better if an option is given on the screen itself.

  11. It doesn’t work.

    Did you even try this?

    • Works as it’s suppose to. Both on my Nexus 5 and my old Nexus S.
Make sure it’s [Volume down] and [Power] you are pressing at the same time.

    • Donald Ambrose says:

Hold it for while until the screenshot is taken i did the same thing.Holding it for a couple of secs doesnt do it.

      • Make sure you are holding the volume DOWN button in the area on the button that would actually turn the volume down. Not in the middle or the top of that button….took nr awhile to figure that out…..duh!!!!!!!
